A 285,000 ton bleached kraft pulp mill was commissioned in 1975 and featured the best process and equipment available at that time such as ÊÌÂ, Rauma-Repola and Parsons & Whittemore. This enabled to place the Mill in one line with the biggest wood chemistry enterprises in Europe.
After 1999 a large-scale implementation of the ECF pulp bleaching process had been started. In July 2003 a new CLO2 production reactor was commissioned which enabled to switch to ECF bleaching of market pulp.
The flexible process employed at APPM enables to produce both softwood and hardwood pulp.
