Pulp production
Sulphate bleached pulp mill, having capacity of 285 thousand tons a
year, was put into operation in 1795. The best availavable at that time
technology and technical equipment of such companies as "KMW", "Rauma-
Repola", "Parsons-Wittemor" was used at the mill. This ranked the mill
with the largest wood-chemical enterprises of Europe.
The universality of the technologies, used at the Mill, allows to
produce both softwood and hardwood pulp.
A large-scale introduction of elementary chlorine free pulp bleaching
was started at the mill in 1999. More than 700 million roubles were
allocated for this project. The introduction of ECF bleaching made it
possible to start the manufacture of environmentally acceptable products.
In 2003 pulp production at the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill reached
record-breaking 770,75 thsd. t. for its 63-year history.
