http://forest.ru/rus/sustainable_forestry/certification/

The management of the mill pays much attention to the problem of sustainable forest management and voluntary certification process (Forest Stewardship Council -FSC/ Pan European Forest Certification Council - PEFC). The main participants of this process alongside with the JSC "Arkhangelsk Pulp & Paper Mill" are: the main timber supplier - ICE "Titan", logging enterprises and the JSC "Arkhbum", the exclusive supplier, promoting the mill's products on the domestic and world markets.

In 2001 General Director of the JSC "Arkhangelsk Pulp & Paper Mill" signed the Sustainable Forestry Declaration and approved to support the implementation of the sustainable forest management in the logging enterprises, supplying raw material to the mill.

The top-management of the JSC "Arkhangelsk Pulp & Paper Mill", JSC "Arkhbum" and ICE "Titan" signed the Agreement about coordination in the field of the sustainable forestry. In the frame of the Agreement the Program for Implementation of the Sustainable Forestry System at the enterprises of "Titan" group was developed. The special workgroup was organized to put this idea into practice.

In August, 2003 Sustainable Forestry Strategy and forest certification on the forest enterprises of the "Titan" group was approved. In accordance with it, the supply of certified wood raw material to Arkhangelsk Pulp & Paper Mill will achieve 50% by 2020.

Sustainable Forestry Policy reflects the intention of the JSC "Arkhangelsk Pulp & Paper Mill" to achieve maximum compliance with the international standards of the sustainable forest resources management principles, to exclude purchase of illegally felled timber, to reveal high conservation value forests and to perform voluntary certification.

In November, 2003 the preliminary audit of the sustainable forestry system on its coincidence with FSC principles was performed on the territory of three logging enterprises, belonging "Titan" group, supplying timber to the mill (the square of forests rent - 600 thsd. hec.). The audit was held by the auditors from the Estonian firm NEPCon, the official representative of Rainforest Alliance Company and SmartWood Program in Denmark in countries of the Baltic Region and Russia.
